Have you ever been asked the question, “If you could go back to any age, what would it be?”  I always answer 5, a time when I have fond memories of spending hours playing outside, going to bed while it was still light out and fresh sheets when I am just out of the bath.  Today I found another reason to be 5 again: Laurette furniture.  These pieces are so cool, so fresh – I wish they were for me!!! I remember it well – I was in the basement kitchen at my great aunt’s house, learning to bake something delicious.  She told me to get the oleo from the refrigerator.  Or maybe I was reading an old recipe and stumbled on the phrase, “cut in the oleo.”  Either way, I had no idea what it was.  It turns out, oleo is another name for margarine.  This post is NOT about margarine however.  (more…)
